Text Selection via Touch

Text selection via touch had been removed since v1.9. May I know if there's plans to make a comeback?

Double tapping on a word selects it, but what I need is to select more than a word. Tap and drag to select text/sentences like how v1.8 and adobe does it...

You would have to be more specific.

As far as I know, we haven't removed any functionality so you would have to provide a more detailed description of what exactly you're doing, what happens, what do you think should happen and if 1.9 acts differently, then what happens in 1.9.

Also, is it a PDF document or an ebook?

Preferably do it as a bug report (https://code.google.com/p/sumatrapdf/wiki/SubmittingBugReports) because that's how we track those things. A forum post will eventually be forgotten.

Thanks for the reply :D

I have uploaded a video showing the problem with selecting text via touch on 2.5.2, versus 1.8.

I know that there's double tapping, but that only selects a word and not multiple words shown in the video...

Thanks!

Oh ya, it's a PDF document.

Thanks, that's great help.

The change wasn't intentional. At some point we've added support for touch gestures and maybe that caused this particular regression.

I've opened https://code.google.com/p/sumatrapdf/issues/detail?id=2658 to track this.

Mentioned also in this older topic

Both Android and Windows 8 Metro now have similar text selection methods: the user activates text selection and then there are two GUI elements (rectangles in Android, circles in Metro) for expanding left/right side of the selection. I wish Sumatra had that.
